While I was researching packs for a 100km endurance hiking challenge, my interest in how we organise our gear gave birth to Pack Config, a place that inspires its readers to improve their own packs. What I carry, either daily or out on a hike, is constantly being refined as I discover new methods and products.
The unpredictable UK weather provides a constant challenge for my packing decisions. I enjoy every form of walking from woodland discovering with my wife and son, to long distance hiking across the local Downs. I had the privilege of deploying with Team Rubicon UK at the end of 2015 as a photographer/mud-shoveller and was humbled and impacted by the calibre and attitude of the whole team. I also take every opportunity I get to pursue my bushcraft techniques.

Urban Autumn Walks
Here is my new every day (twice-a-day!) carry. The Pack Config family now has an amazingly effective (if not a little nippy) reminder to get outside regularly!
Editors EDC Photography Kit
This was my loadout for a product photography and vlogging on the way to work carry.
Rebel Mission to Endor
Here’s a quick loadout of items editor Nat Wagstaff imagined would be helpful for joining rebel assault on the second Death Star.
Loadout: Hard Wearing Kit
I like gear that lasts. Here’s a collection of items that have proven themselves through testing, or are newer pieces of kit that are doing well so far.
Loadout: Photo + Vlogging Kit
Since starting our YouTube channel, I’ve purchased a few pieces of extra kit to add to my regular camera set up.
Loadout: Black + Orange EDC
A collection of items that are either new to me or have stood the test of time. Light, store, burn, burn some more, represent, watch and slice.
Loadout: My 5 Collectibles
This flat lay represents five things I’ve collected over time! Some recently, some for many years!
Loadout: Evolving Everyday Carry
Here’s what I’m carrying or the items I can readily access from day to day. I’m already planning ways of slimming it down.
Loadout: Modern Blue EDC
Here’s a loadout of my blue themed carry, featuring our brand new collab hank product.
Loadout: Leave No Trace Carry
I first learned the phrase “Leave No Trace” on a bushcraft course, but it soon became our family mindset when heading out into the wild.
