Loadout: Cub Ruck
Just for a bit of fun I thought I’d share 10 things our son often carries in his Cub Ruck.
Here are 10 things regularly found in our sons ().
- Patches. Usually one ofor something from the(Featured are the Cub Cubs Wander and Bee Helpful badges).
- E-yer-phant. Our son loves animals. This makes sense. It’s actually a baby safe teether left over from something my wife was making but with a bit of paracord it’s become a super long zip puller!
- Baby wipes. Universally useful in ways you couldn’t imagine before becoming a parent. We get ours on Amazon’s Subscribe and Save which has been brilliant!
- Generic Carabiner. Great for clipping the pack to things, or things to the pack.
- Writing Implement. This time it’s a crayon, but these are often lurking somewhere in his pack from a restaurant pack or one we’ve brought with us.
- Tissues. Once pre-school (daycare) starts there’s a regular stream of colds and therefore nose wiping to be done!
- PDW Compass. I’ve been teaching our son about directions and looking at a compass, just for fun, so this comes along sometimes.
- Toy. This time (and often) a car, from Cars.
- Snack. One of our sons favourite snacks are the “animal biscuits” shown here.
- Clothes. Hat, gloves and spare T-shirt (and usually a spare pair of pants and trousers!) always seems like unnecessary weight until you need it!
Editor: Nothing helps our pack choices more than learning from others. Whether it’s your tried and test combination of items or something new you’re trying out, we want to see it. Click below to get started or click here for help on what to send us.

What I carry, either daily or out on a hike, is constantly being refined as I discover new methods and products. More…
