Loadout: Beach Gear
Here’s a quick loadout shot of some of the standout gear that I carried for a week of sea, sand and adhoc watery filming.
These are some of the bits I carried for a weeks holiday with my family in the Isle of Wight where we mainly hung out at the beach. The SHADO was great a carrying all the weigh I could throw at it (including all our camera gear, changes of clothes, water for a whole day on a hot beach and often my sons Cub Ruck too!). Considering this was the SHADO’s first outing I was really impressed. Swimming and inflatable kayaking was great thanks to the clear beaches and having the PDW Mini Coil Lanyard made sure I wasn’t going to lose my action camera while filming in the sea.
The GOPUCK was great as a backup power supply that was used several times for our phones, including saving a phone from dying before downloading a stargazing app during an evening BBQ. It also gave some essential charge for the action camera which died mid-filming, which meant I could carry on getting footage.

What I carry, either daily or out on a hike, is constantly being refined as I discover new methods and products. More…
