Loadout: Yomp Notes

Here’s a great collection of gear from a fellow Brit, Yomp Notes, that has been inspired by other loadout posts he’s seen.

So this is my Day Hike load-out, larger than some, smaller than others and is always changing. For instance right now I am considering returning to using a small stove to heat my water as apposed to the thermos flask that I carry now, in this, freshly boiled water, although takes a little longer to organize than simply pouring from a flask, will always be hot! I do like a good cup of tea especially in the afternoon so this is a good way to go. I hope you have enjoyed this post and found as useful as I have found similar in the past.

In the past I have found load-outs to be very useful in informing and inspiring me as to what kit is now available and what I could and should be carrying in an effort to make my hike is as comfortable and as safe as possible.

My Day Hike gear has 3 main purposes:

  1. Gear for the hike that I will almost defiantly use; food, water, brew kit [for making tea] Water proof gear, extra warm clothing etc
  2. Gear that I may use from time to time: tools, fire lighting, iPhone charger etc
  3. Gear I will need should things go wrong: first aid, signalling and shelter, navigation and fire lighting

What ever the season I’ll carry the same gear. In this I can rely that I’m carrying what I need without thinking too much about it and in my part of the world it can, quite famously rain at any time of the year and can be chilly late in the day even in the summer. The main change to my kit would be the clothes I wear. Warmer in the winter, cooler in the summer, waterproof when its raining… no s**t! : )

About the links: I’ve included links so you can find out more or even purchase. In some cases items have been upgraded or discontinued so I have linked to equivalents, I hope that’s OK.

Editor: The links above are linked to the Yomp Notes Amazon Affiliates account. I love what I’ve found with his site and I’m glad to show him support by doing this. Find the original post of this on his site here. I first discovered him through his IG account here.
