Team Rubicon Fundraising Patch: Final Report
Way back in March last year we dropped the first hints of a project to raise funds for Team Rubicon, (Team Rubicon unites the skills and experiences of military veterans with first responders to rapidly deploy emergency response teams.)
A good portion of my 2014 was spent promoting and selling 500 patches in aid of this worthy charity. Mike Lee, my contact at Team Rubicon, was not only as tirelessly friendly as all the other TR representatives I was in contact with, but he went above and beyond in assisting me with the project. I could not thank him enough for his help.
A massive thank you needs to go out to our patch company, who wished to remain un-named, for offering to produce this patch. The quality was outstanding and everyone was really impressed. Thank you!
The grand total was finally donated in the late hours of last night was $2,171.98. This includes a generous $206.40 of additional donations given by those making a purchase. Minus this extra donation, this came to just under $4 per patch. To help visualise what this amount can do, above is a representation of the gear that Team Rubicon can fund with this money (taken from the TR Wishlist).
I would like to thank all of my amazing followers, for getting on board with me and making this a possibility. Thank you to everyone who made a purchase (especially those made multiple purchases!), to the Team Rubicon staff/members and to the Facebook communities who got behind this and helped spread the word. These communities included the Morale Patch Black Market, the TAD Junkies and the Promethean Phalanx and a host of Team Rubicon groups. Thanks also to realworldedc and itstactical for providing some great support and promotion in their blogging communities.
Let me encourage you all to keep supporting Team Rubicon in the future. If you missed out on the patch, stick around, there may be an exciting announcement coming soon…

While I was researching packs for a 100km endurance hiking challenge, my interest in how we organise our gear gave birth to Pack Config, a place that inspires its readers to improve their own packs. What I carry, either daily or out on a hike, is constantly being refined as I discover new methods and products. More…
